My Review:

xXx follows a character named Xander Cage who is a “thrill seeker” with so much confidence that he believes the law can’t touch him. That is until they do. After celebrating the clean escape from the police during one of his stunts, Cage is surprised when the police raid his hideout, and capture him. Agent Gibbons of the NSA puts Cage through a series of tests to see if he would qualify to help them with one of their cases. Once Cage proves himself to Agent Gibbons, he is sent to Russia to spy on a Russian Crime Ring, in order to gain information and bring them down. This is the first time I’ve ever seen xXx, and I wasn’t really sure what I was getting into. That being said, I was happily surprised. This movie is a lot of fun, and it’s full of some crazy over the top action. It’s directed by the same person who did ‘The Fast And The Furious’, so y0u know you’re in for a fun ride…see what I did there? Please forgive me. Although it had some cheesy one liners, the comedy and acting throughout the movie were pretty good as well. If that wasn’t enough, this Bluray is loaded with Special Features to keep your interest going. Yes it has the usual Audio Commentary, and a handful of Deleted Scenes but that doesn’t even scrape the surface. We also get more than 10 featurettes which cover things such as the inspiration for the movie, behind the scenes, details on the weapons that were used, pre-production, post production, and much more. Overall, if you’re into movies that have crazy action, awesome cars, cool weapons, and beautiful women…this is the movie for you. It’s the perfect mindless action popcorn flick that we all need from time to time, when we want to just forget about everything going on in the world. I definitely recommend picking up this 15Th Anniversary Bluray.

Picture & Audio Quality:

The Picture Quality on this Bluray was pretty surprising because the movie was made in 2002. Not that 2002 is old but certain shots were so clear that it was like it was just filmed. I remember one specific scene where Vin Diesel was wearing a white shirt, and you could see every little detail of the stitching/weaving. I’ve seen Blurays of other movies that came out more recent, that were much less detailed. The Audio Quality was great too, and I’d expect nothing less from an action movie. The soundtrack to the film sounded good, and the sound effects on the gunshots and the explosions felt like it was actually happening around me.

Special Features:

Origins of A Renegade” Featurette

Deleted Scenes

10 Featurettes

Audio Commentary

Multiple Music Videos

Overall Rating:

7.9 Out Of 10 Stars
