“A teenage special ops agent (Steinfeld) yearning for a “normal” adolescence fakes her own death and enrolls as an “exchange” student in a suburban American high school. She quickly learns that surviving the treacherous waters of being a teenager can be more difficult than international espionage.”
This movie is about a girl that is a secret agent who desperately wants to know what it feels like to be normal. She wants to go to high school, have friends, and just get the overall experience like a regular teenager. Now to be honest, I’m not exactly sure how to feel about this one. I feel like it’s Target audience is mid to late teenage girls BUT there are some moments that people of any age can connect with. For the most part, it almost seems like an adult version of one of those direct to TV Disney movies. I say that because not only do you get the typical teenage girl moments but you also get drinking, cursing, and some sexual talk that you would never find in an actual Disney movie. You also get a handful of big named actors in here as well, such as Samuel L. Jackson, and Jessica Alba to name a couple. The movie did have some funny moments in it that had actually had me laughing out loud. I think it was because you feel like you’re watching a kids movie, and then all of a sudden someone drops the “F bomb” and it catches you off guard. I never felt like it was out of place though, just comical. The cast did a pretty good job with how it was all done, and with the acting in general. The Picture and Audio Quality were great, as you would expect from a new movie that’s been released on Bluray. Overall, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. Like I said before, I definitely think that it’s aimed more for girls in their late teens but if you’re looking to just watch something light, that you don’t have to put much thought into, and maybe even have a few laughs…this is a good fit.
