My Review:

The Visit is a story about two siblings (Becca & Tyler) as they take a trip to Pennsylvania to meet their grandparents for the first time. They take the trip alone because of a falling out between their mother and grandparents that took place years before they were born. Once they arrive, they are greeted by their grandparents who they refer to as Nana and Pop Pop. As they make their way to the grandparents house, they each share stories about themselves so that everyone gets to know each other better. At first thought, everything seemed to be fine but as the days went by, Becca and Tyler started to notice that things seemed a little strange. For starters, their grandparents had a bed time curfew of 9:30pm. They were told not to leave their room after that time…but you know how kids are. They hear some strange noises coming from outside their room, and even though it’s after curfew, they leave the room to see what’s going on. From this point forward, everything takes a turn for the worse. What starts off with confusion, quickly turns into fear as they find their grandparents screaming, throwing up, running around, scratching walls, and much more with each passing night. As Becca and Tyler contact their mother to tell her about what’s been going on, they discover a terrifying secret. Without giving anything else about this movie away, I have to say that I found it to be both creepy and comical. Becca and Tyler’s characters worked really well with each other, and they were definitely believable as siblings. Like a typical sister/brother pair, they had fun together, they bickered with each other, and they looked out for each other. The actors who played the grandparents did a great job at making things very awkward, and again, creepy. There were a couple of the scenes that disturbed me the most. First was the hide and seek scene, and the second has to be the scratching on the walls scene. I can’t imagine anything worse than hearing a noise outside of your bedroom door in the middle of the night, and then opening it up to see that. I also liked the found footage style that this movie was filmed with. I know a lot of people are on the fence about it but I’ve always seemed to enjoy it. The Picture Quality on the Bluray was fantastic, displaying the beautiful shots of Pennsylvania really nicely. The Audio Quality was also done really well. The score, and sound effects often intensified the creepy feel to the movie. The Bluray also comes with a a handful of cool Special Features including The Making Of, Deleted Scenes, an Alternate Ending, and more. Overall, this movie made for a fun experience. It left me feeling creeped out and had me looking over my shoulder, and it also had me laughing at times. The Bluray Quality is great, and the Special Features adds a nice little extra touch. If you’re into horror movies that gives you with an eerie feeling, and has a few jump scares thrown in, I’d recommend checking this one out.
