Synopsis:

“The story of the five-day interview between Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky and acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace, which took place right after the 1996 publication of Wallace’s groundbreaking epic novel, ‘Infinite Jest.”

My Review:

The End Of The Tour is basically about a writer/journalist named David Lipsky, as he interviews an author named David Foster Wallace. Lipsky, who works for Rolling Stone Magazine, wants to interview Wallace because he practically became famous overnight for his novel ‘Infinite Jest’. This interview takes place over the course of five days, as they travel around the country for Wallace’s book tour. Lipsky is also an author but hasn’t had any luck with book. In a sense, Lipsky is jealous of Wallace’s success because of how effortless it was, while he has been working hard to make a name for himself. Wallace on the other hand, doesn’t even care for the fame. He’s just a “regular guy” who would rather be at home, instead of traveling around having people make a big fuss over him. This was honestly a very surprising movie for several reasons. For starters, I wasn’t aware of the story before I had watched this movie. As the it progresses, you see many different emotions come to light. At certain points of the movie, you see how happy Wallace is, as he enjoys the little things such as candy, soda, and television. At other times, you see how alone and sad he really was because he was suffering with depression. The casting choice for this movie was fantastic. Now, I’m not a big Jesse Eisenberg fan but he played his part perfectly. As for Jason Segel, I’ve seen him play different types of roles before but his acting really shines with this character. You can see the pain in his eyes, and at times you could even feel how sad and lonely he felt. This movie was beautifully shot, and it really shows with this Bluray set. The Picture Quality was nice and crisp during the snowy settings. The Audio Quality was also done really well, often using music to help us feel the same emotions as the characters. Overall, this is a movie that everyone should see. It has an interesting story, and is accompanied by some great acting. I definitely recommend it.
